Last night I was chatting with some friends over a few vodkas (funnily enough things started getting deep and meaningful all of sudden) and we got on to the topic of the internet and what we would do without it. A well covered topic I know, but I thought, well how much do we actually “depend” on the net these days?
If tomorrow the internet stopped working, how many financial/business systems would be screwed? How much productivity would be lost at work? Would we be able to cope with having to engage more with our surroundings?
It all sounds a little grand but this report in the Sydney Morning Herald makes for interesting reading.
