I find it interesting that Aunty Helen has taken it upon herself to reduce the number of liquor stores in area such as Manuwera.
While I agree that the nation has a binge drinking problem, and areas such a Manuwera have a history of drug and alcohol fueled offences (just look at the last 2 weeks), I don’t believe the solution is to make alcohol even more scarce, and as a result more desirable to some.
What it comes back to time and time again is changing the drinking habits for New Zealanders. Why is it that European countries with lower drinking ages have little or no binge drinking culture?
